Donor Information:

Congratulations for helping individuals needing vocational skills!!! Your donation will change the lives not only of the recipients, but all the family associated with them.

Tax-deductible donations to the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona are made possible by a tax credit program designed to assist the "working poor." The Arizona legislature passed a bill that permits Arizona taxpayers to contribute to a qualifying assistance program and deduct the amount of the donation from the individual's tax liability. Note that this is a tax credit on the state tax form, not a deduction. This means that if you contribute $400 to TRVFA, you can reduce your state income tax liability by $400, essentially breaking even on the transaction. Your $400 donation can usually be taken as a deduction on your federal tax return as well, so you are a net winner. There are a few caveats, however.

The maximum allowable tax credit is $200 for an individual and $400 for a couple filing jointly. You could, of course, donate more than this, but the allowable tax credit is limited to these amounts. In order to realize the tax advantages, you must itemize your deductions and have made a tax-deductible charitable contribution on a past tax return. This program works in the same manner as the similar school donation program, but the two are independent, and contributing to one does not affect one's ability to contribute to the other.

While we promote this program within the framework of Rotary, participation in the program is in no way limited to Rotarians. Any taxpayer who qualifies under the guidelines above can make a contribution and benefit from the tax credit and deduction. Please feel free to share this information with your friends and co-workers. Wouldn't you rather have Rotarians disbursing your money to help people than the state?

This information is intended as guidance only. Only your tax advisor can determine whether your situation will permit participation in this program. We advise you to consult with your tax preparer if you have any questions about the credit or deduction applicability on your return.

There are forms and instructions that you can download below. The first form is the one that you would use to send your contribution to TRVFA. The other is the form to use when taking the credit on your tax return. The instructions are self-explanatory. (In order to read and print these documents, you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you do not have the Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free at this website.)

If you have questions about this program, or questions about TRVFA, please visit our contact page, and someone will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for assisting our Rotary service with your generous contribution. You will be helping economically-challenged Arizonans raise themselves above the poverty line by improving their earning potential. A win-win for all concerned!
